I cycled on Friday
The weekend was far too short. I wanted to draw, go cycling, write a blog post about the thirteenth week of my retraining, work on my website, play with my journal, and cook something delicious. At least I managed to go cycling.
I tried a new tactic to see how my skin problem would react. This time, I didn’t eat right before the ride. Breakfast had been about four hours earlier when I set off. Still, I took a snack bar with me because I knew I’d get hungry along the way.

It actually went quite well, but I was cycling slower than I usually like. Ideally, you want to be fast on a road bike, but apparently, I can’t afford that. At least during the first third of the ride, I think I didn’t have a rash. My skin felt a bit prickly in some spots, but it didn’t get worse. Then I got hungry and cautiously ate only half of my snack bar. That worked out well too, and I didn’t notice any changes. After that, I turned around and decided to head to the nearest lake to take photos because the sky was so beautiful. After about two-thirds of my ride, I ate the other half of my bar. I started to feel some slight itching when I was at the lake. I rode around a bit, and then I made my way home. That was about the last third of the ride, and the itching got worse. It wasn’t terrible, but uncomfortable. Now I’m not sure if it was the last bit of the snack bar or the headwind, which required a bit more effort from me. Maybe it was both.

By the time I rolled home, the rash had spread to almost my entire body again, though it was a bit less severe than usual, and the bumps were smaller.
Next time, I want to try bringing something else to eat. It still needs to be filling enough. My snack bar is mostly made of oats, so I want to try something without grains. Maybe a banana, even though I don’t really like them.
I’m still glad I went on a small bike ride. Well, it was 30km, so not too bad! Even if it was slower, it’s better than nothing.
